Mosaic Recognized for Innovative Water Initiatives

December 18, 2019
Last January, our Brazil team—Mosaic Fertilizantes—signed the UN Global Compact in Brazil. This compact provides guidelines to help promote sustainable development and citizenship through committed and innovative corporate leadership. As a company, we’re been taking steps to support five of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
  • Zero Hunger
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Partnerships for the Goals

Global Compact Brazil reviewed members’ 2019 water initiatives that supported the Clean Water and Sanitation goal and selected the top 15 as finalists for potential recognition at an event called the CEO Water Mandate. Mosaic Fertilizantes snagged nominations in two of four categories for their work in creating a program called Water Call for Bids. This water program awarded donations to the community projects that best reduced water use or reinforced responsible habits.

The CEO Water Mandate event was held Dec. 11, and Mosaic Fertilizantes won in both categories.

“We are very happy to see that we have chosen the right path when defining our work platforms and joining the Global Compact. We are demonstrating that Mosaic Fertilizantes is aware of its responsibilities and opportunities of operating sustainably, also encouraging the communities that surround us,” said Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Arthur Liacre.
