Our HistoryCelebrating Two Decades of Helping the World Grow the Food it Needs In October 2024, The Mosaic Company will celebrate twenty years of an unwavering commitment to help the world grow the food it needs. Built on a legacy that extends far beyond our 20 years as Mosaic, we have earned our position as an industry leader in crop nutrition through the hard work, innovation, collaboration, and conviction to act responsibly that our people carry with them every day.Join us as we look back and celebrate all that we’ve accomplished over the past two decades: In 2004, a new chapter in the work to feed an ever-growing population began when IMC Global and Cargill, Inc.’s crop nutrition division merged to form a new entity: The Mosaic Company. From the combined strengths of these two industry leaders emerged the critical mission to help the world grow the food it needs. Early on, we established ourselves as a company deeply rooted in the communities we serve and solidified this connection in 2006 when we secured the naming rights for the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ stadium, now known as Mosaic Stadium. More than just a name, this partnership symbolizes our commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work. Leadership transitions introduced an era of growth and innovation under the guidance of Jim Prokopanko, who succeeded Fritz Corrigan as President and CEO in 2007. In November 2009, we released our first sustainability report, showcasing our commitment to responsible and sustainable practices. Our first decade concluded with activities that furthered our global reach and solidified our role as leaders in agricultural innovation. Strategic acquisitions expanded our phosphate and fertilizer distribution businesses, mining activity investments supported new efficiencies, and new ways of engaging with customers enhanced the user experience. The transition into our next ten years was complete in August 2015, when Joc O’Rourke was appointed Mosaic’s new President and CEO, succeeding Jim Prokopanko, continuing our expansion and acquisition activities. Resilience and commitment became the watchwords guiding us through the global COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to the end of 2021. Despite the challenges introduced by this once-in-a-century event, we forged ahead, implementing the Villages program in Brazil in 2020 and reinforcing our commitment to environmental stewardship with the December 2021 announcement of our Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emission Targets. We emerged from the pandemic looking to the future and dedicating ourselves to creating a more inclusive workplace. Our ongoing commitment to innovation and growth shone through in 2022 with the completion of Esterhazy K3 and in 2023 with the launch of Mosaic Biosciences and an investment in Brazil’s Palmeirante blending unit. We formalized our global diversity and inclusion targets in 2023 and launched six Employee Inclusion Networks. These activities have been foundational to our commitment to remove barriers and increase opportunities, creating innovative and collaborative environments that welcome, value and respect diversity of people, thoughts and perspectives. With over $227 million in community investments to date and a diverse global workforce committed to sustainably advancing our mission to help the world grow the food it needs, we celebrate 20 years of growth, innovation, and positive impact in the many operating communities around the world, where our employees live, work and raise families. |
