Esterhazy Transition Ends the Year On-Track
With just over a year to go until Esterhazy’s K3 mine is fully operational, work continues both above and below ground. This summer marked the completion of the continuous concrete slip-form pour to build the more than 300-foot tall south headframe, and this fall, work continued inside including install of the 65-ton overhead bridge crane that will be used for servicing the Koepe hoist. When the south shaft headframe is fully operational in the first quarter of 2022, it will double hoisting capacity at K3. More than a half of a mile underground, work continues on necessary infrastructure to ramp up production in the new year, including the addition of a sixth autonomous 4-rotor mining machine - cutting below, while being controlled from above. These activities will be monitored from a state-of-the-art Integrated Operations Center (IOC) which is part of Mosaic’s efforts to revolutionize operations by adding ‘NextGEN’ technology to our operations.
