Mosaic Partners to Help Increase Services in Tampa Bay

October 6, 2020

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY IS OCTOBER 10

At Mosaic, we understand mental health is a critical component of overall wellbeing – and one that not everyone has equal access to resources. The Mosaic Company and The Mosaic Company Foundation is proud to partner with West Central Florida Mental Wellness Coalition, now Tampa Bay Thrives, to help increase mental health awareness and access to services in the Tampa Bay area.

Tampa Bay Thrives mobilizes the community to strengthen behavioral health outcomes for depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, with a focus on improving early intervention, access and awareness. The Mosaic Company Foundation has committed to support this important work with an investment of $100,000 over five years.

In Tampa Bay and West Central Florida, one in six people live with depression, one in 12 has a substance use disorder and suicide and overdose rates continue to rise. The area covered by this coalition is underserved for mental health and substance abuse resources. For example, the number of residents per practitioner in Polk County is 1,280 to 1 and in Hillsborough it is 610 to 1, compared to the top ten percent of states which is 330 to 1.

While we know this is just one step, we hope that community partnerships like this one will help those struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and other mental health conditions gain better access to care.
